The Rt. Rev. Julius Njuguna Wanyoike was on Sunday 8th September 2013 consecrated and enthroned as the second Bishop of Thika Diocese.
Hundreds of congregants joined the Archishop of Kenya, Bishops, clergy and other national leaders in the colorful event held at St. Andrew's Cathedral Thika.
In his charge themed "Sustaining Growth in Mission," Bishop Julius highlighted mission focus, pastoral ministry, discipleship, social transformation, mission partnerships and strengthening of management aand governance structires in the diocese as core areas he will focus on.
He urged the clergy and laity to work together towards the realization of the aspirations for a growing, caring Christian community that witnesses to the love of Christ.
Bishop Julius was ordained a deacon on 1st August 1993 at St. James Cathedral Kiambu and later in the year ordained a priest on 26th December 1993. His immediate former engagement was the Provost of All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
He is married to Esther Wanyoike and have been blessed with three daughters.
Bishop Julius succeeds Bishop Gideon Githiga who served in the diocese for fourteen years.
